Had me some free time so I had a bit of fun swapping parts between my 1/6 scale figures and borrowing some props from my other toys. I call this “HT Blues”:

HT Blues

I used the Bruce Wayne head from my Hot Toys The Dark Knight Batman on the Volks Neo-Guy body. The shirt and pants are from the Hot Toys Ranger. The boots are from some cheap 12″ action figure that I bought on sale just for the clothing.

I find that the Neo-Guy base body can be posed more extremely than the Hot Toys True Type body. The joints are much looser, though, especially standing up so I had to check the pose from time to time to make sure that the figure holds the pose.

Took me a while to find a good location for the pose and settled for the window ledge. Had to do it in monochrome as the skin tone between the head and the body were quite obvious when in color.

Still too cold to go outside and shoot photos so I continue to do things indoors.

Playing around with natural lighting. Here’s the 1/6 Scale U.S. Army Ranger in repose, sans gear:

Ranger Repose

This particular action figure has a lot of accessories and putting them on and taking them off is hard but fun work. They really have miniature zippers and snaps!

It’s still too cold to go outside and take photos so I decided to bring the activity indoors and fool around with my 1/6 Scale Hot Toys U.S. Ranger and some desktop lighting:

Ranger Planet Portrait

Took me a while to come up with a pose that would satisfy me and this was the best that I was able to come up with at that time. Doing this kind of stuff sure tests one patience!

I recently wrote about my fascination with these 1/6 Scale Figure with posts about of my 1/6 Scale Hot Toys Batman, The Dark Knight here, here and here.

I am so madly taken by this figure and the rest of the 1/6 scale toys! Unfortunately, I had to watch out for my spending as the economy has not been friendly lately.

However, that has not stopped me from doing something about my recent desire to acquire a new one, this time in the military line of 1/6 scale figures.

Behold, the 1/6 Scale Hot Toys U.S. Army Ranger 75th Regiment figure:

Hot Toys US Army Ranger 75th Regiment

I had to sell my Bandai Soul of Chogokin Voltes V to be able to acquire this, otherwise Liza, my wife, would have choked me for spending such a ridiculous amount for a toy. All went well, though, and I did not spent a single penny other than the gas that I burned driving to and from the store.

To give you an idea on how detailed this figure is, here is a much closer view:

If you look hard enough, you can see that there is a passing resemblance to a particular actor who recently starred in a superhero movie. Here is the little guy flanked by the Dark Knight Batman with the Bruce Wayne head:

Two Tiny Dudes

There’s a more detailed review here at Michael Crawford’s site, a site that I frequently visit to read up on 1/6 scale figures, for those who wants to learn more about this particular Hot Toys release. Believe me, there was so much assembly needed just to make it look like this that you can spend hours just kitting up and playing with the figure.

I intend to take more photos of this one, especially with all the gear stripped down and a closer look at the head sculpt to show you how great the sculpting of the face is.

As a closing note, I now know why there is a community of 1/6 Scale Military figure collectors. These are so fascinating!

I was able to take some photos of a couple of friends during a break from work:

Tried my hand at some post processing here via Photoshop Elements. I am still quite new to Photoshop so this was the best that I was able to come up with. I like it!

This is the result of having too much time in my hands and trying to gain momentum at work:

A scene that I’ve always wanted to capture:

Sunset at Chestermere

This was on our way home from visiting my sister-in-law at Chestermere.

It was the first time that I stopped the car, parked it at the side and stepped out with my camera to take a photograph of something.

Not the best sunset photo out there, but I like it!

Have a great weekend!

My Wacom Cintiq 20WSX turns one year old today!

Cintiq_animation 001a

It has not been a bump-free ride. I previously wrote about my issues here. For some strange reason, something in Apple Software Update 10.5.2 and onwards caused it and my Mac Pro to kernel panic. It was not until software version 10.5.5 that these issues almost completely disappeared.

Other than that, it has been a joy to use, especially with my current animation project which needed a lot of hand drawn characters!  I could not imagine ever working with a regular tablet again!

Curiously, this version of the Cintiq has been discontinued; only the flagship 21″ and the smaller, more portable 12″ remains.  Wierd.

Anyway, I’ve been juggling with the idea of keeping this unit after the end of it’s lease life.  That will be in another two years.  Either that or I will upgrade to the flagship version, just to see if the issues I once had in this version will also appear in that version (which, should that ever happen, only proves that it was 10.5.2 that broke them both).  I’ll be sure to write a post about it.
