I just had to post this. It’s not everyday one hears news about an ongoing full length animation movie production from the Philippines.

I was touching base with a former co-worker and former production manager from Top Draw, Joey Santiago. It’s been a long time since we spoke to one another. When I heard that she is no longer working for my previous employer, Top Draw Animation, I was saddened and had to know what she’s been working on right now.

Well, it turns out she still works in the animation industry and with an up and coming company at that. They have a very ambitious project, one that has always been a Holy Grail of sort in the Animation Industry in the Philippines: the production of a full-length animation movie production!

Here is the link to the teaser:

They are using Toon Boom to create the animation. It’s awesome because Joey told me that the artists get to work using a Cintiq Tablet.

I am looking forward to this because this can be the start of something big for the animation industry in the Philippines. There’s so much great talent there that it is no surprise that the day will come something like this will happen.

Mabuhay!

I posted about how I turned my wife into a Geek by giving her her very first gadget, an iPod Nano:

Well, mine arrived today, and I’ve been touched!

I can’t say enough how awesome the interface on this thing is. It’s like having an iPhone without the phone features!

Who says I am all work and no play?

Yup, I must admit it. Ever since I got into Flash animation, I’ve slowly evolved into a Geek. I have used a computer to do my work before when I was working as an AutoCad operator. But nothing turned me into technology more than my job as a Flash Animator.

It’s probably because I had to work with all this hardware and technology. I need a PC to do my work; ergo I need to know how it functions so I will be able to troubleshoot any problems myself. I correspond with my clients via the internet, therefore I need to know how email works and what to use to download and upload huge files of data.

I love being a Geek. In fact, I am so close to building my own computer if not for my aversion to the Microsoft Windows platform. I must confess that I have been an Apple fan for some time now and I have owned two Macs: a 12″ Powerbook which I have handed over to my Mom, and now a 20″ iMac which I use for internet browsing, email and back up. Although I still keep a PC as my regular workstation, I hope to move all my hardware from PC into an all-Mac setup soon.

I do not think I am a real Geek in the true sense of the word; I just love technology and enjoy reading about it. I don’t go around buying all the latest tech gadgets; I just purchase the ones that I really, really would like to own.

And now I am trying to turn my wife into a Geek too. I just bought her her first iPod. It arrived two days ago and here she is unboxing her new toy:

Mine, on the other hand, will ship later this month. I ordered the iPod Touch. It’s my very first iPod too, and as always the case, I went for the top-of-the-line model (actually, the iPhone is on the top heap but it is not yet available here in Canada). I shall post my own unboxing when that beauty arrives.
